April 8 Where did THAT come from? Pastor Lee Ellingson will take us on a trip back through time to learn how the early Christian church practices evolved. Learn about Constantine (Roman emperor who converted to Christianity) and the pivotal Council of Nicea which laid many of the foundations of our western church.
April 15 Render unto Caesar – group discussion about the role of religion and the role of the state. Explore how those ideas are playing out in modern civic life. How does the ELCA determine which issues to actively pursue and how can we influence those decisions.
April 22 News from St. Catherine’s Monastery Jackie Walker will share some exciting new updates on the continuing revelations of the monastery as reported in a recent Smithsonian Magazine.
April 29 The Rocky Mountain Synod Assembly Session host Ali Little will be representing ALC at the annual assembly in May. Share your perspective on some of the key issues that Ali will be voting on.
May 6 Hildegard of Bingen: The First Protestant? Carlene Goldthwaite presents Saint Hildegard von Bingen (1098–1179). She was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, and visionary. Her message of health, wholeness, and care for the earth rings especially vibrant today.
May 13 Welcome Bishop Jim Gonia! The Bishop joins us to talk about ALC’s call process, the recent Synod Assembly, and being Lutheran in contemporary society.
